French Oak Parquet-Topped Dining Table
Sometimes we stumble across a piece that just takes our collective breath away... and this antique French oak dining table is just such a piece. Originally an enormous banquet table found in a stately home, it is now scaled to a much more useful domestic length but retains all of the style and presence you'd expect from such a piece.
It's hard to know exactly what feature to start with, as there are so many.... any one of which would typically be the single 'hero' feature!
Fabulously intricate carvings adorn the apron featuring flowers, leaves, and ribbons.
The legs are fluted column-like, and the stretcher is a piece of carving that really has to be seen to be believed - swirling as though constructed from a piece of fabric, not a solid plank of oak!
And then the top is a work of art in itself, featuring an elegant parquet pattern and gently rounded corners making it not quite square, not quite rectangular, and not quite oval.
A very generous 6 seater and comfortable for 8, this is a piece to treasure for generations.
