Vintage French Confit Pot
What a find! I sourced this series of authentic, antique confit pots in the South of France. Circa mid-1800s and am absolutely thrilled with them. We have just 1 left, as pictured, showing all sides & angles.
These were originally used to preserve food: after slow cooking, the duck meat would be placed inside and surrounded by rendered duck fat, and buried in the ground (or placed in a stone lined cellar) up to the glazed line for preserving. These small sized ones make excellent utensil holders in the kitchen.
They make simply stunning decorative pieces, a touch of French history & style. They are in good vintage condition.
Sold individually. Final photo shows the three sizes available, with these smallest ones on the right.
Dimensions
These pots range in height from 16cm - 20cm, and have diameters at their openings between 11cm and 13cm.
