Absolutely stunning glazed platter, circa late 1800s.
The classic blue & white 'Asiatic Pheasant' design has varying claimaints to being the originator, but by the late 1800s had achieved universal popularity and was being produced by many English potteries. It is a quintessential English design inspired by an Oriental original - in keeping with the Victorian craze for Chinoiserie.
Delicate soft blue patterns featuring swallows, flowers, and butterflies, this is a genuinely really beautiful piece.
Crazed with a little discolouration on base, otherwise excellent condition for it's age.
For lovers of blue & white china, this is a must.
